Meet the 2011 Youth Conference Planning Committee
Sister Elodia Monique Williams
Representing The Western States District
Elodia Monique Williams is blessed and happy to be part of this organization
for all of her life. Elodia is a very active member in the Phoenix, Arizona
church. She is the local Financial Assistant, a TDI representative, and the
current secretary for the Youth Conference Planning Committee – serving her
fourth year as committee secretary. Elodia is also one of the Youth
Department’s “Youth of the Year” awardees.
Sister Elodia works for Prudential Insurance, in the relocation
department. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Her passion is in
counseling and she is currently working toward her Masters degree to become a
Marriage and Family Therapist. She enjoys movies, music and traveling. Elodia
gives God all the glory for her success and accomplishments.
Sister Christina Williams
Representing The Florida District
Christina Williams was born in Chicago,
Illinois, and in 2000, she and her family moved to
Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
She is the middle sibling of 4 brothers and 1 sister. Christina also has 8
nieces and nephews who she enjoys spending time with. Christina and her family
are life-long members of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic
Faith. Sister Christina is a member of the National Youth Conference Planning
Committee. She has been a member of this committee for 2 years and enjoys
working with the other members of the committee to help plan an exciting
memorable week for the young people around the diocese. Christina recently
received her Bachelor’s degree in 3.5 years from the
University
of Dubuque, in Dubuque, IA.
She majored in Sociology/Criminal Justice and obtained a minor in Psychology.
She looks forward to attending graduate school in the near future to obtain a
Master’s degree in Social Work-- her career goal is to become a licensed
Clinical Social Worker. In her spare time, she enjoys arts and craft, fashion
designing, hanging out with friends, reading, and listening to music.
Sister Angelica Posey
Representing The MD/DC/DEL District
Angelica Posey is 17 years old
and her local church is Ironsides,
Maryland. She is gearing up to
graduate high school, and begin her post secondary schooling
this fall at American University in Washington, DC, studying
Psychology. Being on the planning committee has been a great learning
experience for Angelica; this has allowed her the opportunity to get to know
all the behind the scenes preparation that goes into building activities for a
Youth Conference. With conference calls happening at least once a week,
she developed great time management skills, allowing her to balance homework
and other commitments that she has, and devote the needed time to the
conference calls. Angelica enjoys being on the planning committee because she
has a voice in the events for the Youth Conference,
"I'm not just attending it, I'm planning it."
Brother Keith Williams
Representing The Florida District
Keith
Williams is from Ft Lauderdale, FL. He is a University of Dubuque graduate, with a degree in
Criminal Justice. Keith currently works for the U.S Department of Homeland
Security/TSA, and as a Loss Prevention Officer. Keith was one of our “Youth of
the Year” awardees last year, and is serving his second year as a Planning
Committee member continuing to do good works serving this community.
Sister Tressia Branscumb
Representing The North Central District
Tressie Monique Branscumb resides in Kansas City,
Missouri. Tressie is currently a student at the
University of Missouri-Kansas City and will be graduating in the Class of 2011
with a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
She is the daughter of proud parents, Brother Robert and Sister LaTonya
Branscumb. Tressie is 22 years old
and she love’s our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. She also loves shopping,
spending time with family, and reading.
She has an adorable little sister named DeVione Branscumb.
Sister Michelle Jones
Representing The South Central District
Michelle Jones was born to Brother Darryl and Sister Valencia Jones.
She attended Deptford High School
and graduated with the Cum Laude award.
Her family moved to Memphis,
Tennessee
where she is attending Southwest
Tennessee
Community College following her dream of becoming
a Pediatric Nurse. She is also
works part-time at FedEx. She is a
fun loving, and caring person, who enjoys spending time with her family,
talking on the phone, and take pleasure in just being a cool person.
Brother Timothy Giffin
Representing The South Central District
Tim Griffin of
Memphis,
TN, is currently the President of
the South Central District Choir. He is honored to be in this position because
he knows that nothing happens unless God allows it. Since Tim was a kid, his
parents drilled the love of Christ in him and it has stuck with him and
continues to live in him today. Tim has been passionate about music since as
long as he can remember. On his 4th birthday, his parents bought him a drum
set, which started his musical journey. While he still plays the drums, his
real love is playing the piano, which he began at the age of 10.
In middle school Tim became the school’s main keyboard player for the
jazz band; as well as in high school, he was the main keyboard player for the
gospel choir and jazz band. After graduating high school, Tim attended his
freshman year at Tennessee
State
University
in Nashville, TN, where he became a keyboardist for the
college music ministry. After moving back to Memphis,
in 2007, our local Memphis
choir was in need of a choir director/president to keep the saints here
encouraged. Brother Tim readily took on the task and is committed to singing
praises to God that will inspire someone else to serve God.
“I love God unconditionally, and I have strong passion for music. I pray
God's blessings be upon all”.
Tim is studying Accounting and works part-time for FEDEX.
Sister Iman Childs
Representing The New England District
Iman Childs was
born and raised in New York City,
where she attends church locally. Coming from a family that is faithful and
involved in various church departments, Iman was raised with a strong belief
in God and service. She currently is a freshman at
Northwestern
University in Illinois, studying Film. Due to Iman’s
upbringing, she has a strong interest in social justice issues, which is seen
in her participation in Amnesty International, sustainability initiatives on
campus, and various community service activities. Iman also writes for
Blackboard Magazine, a publication
which reports on issues concerning the black community, serves on the Black
Women’s Retreat Planning Committee and Freshmen Activities Board, as well as
working for Undergraduate Admissions to increase African American enrollment.
Having attended many Youth Conferences and enjoyed meeting church members from
around the country while being educated in the Word, Iman is excited to join
the planning committee for the 62nd
National Youth Conference.
Sister Shana Lisa Childs
Representing The New England District
Shana Lisa Childs is a recent graduate of
Spellman
College in Atlanta, Georgia.
The daughter to two faithful members of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of
the Apostolic Faith, Shana Lisa has developed a love for Church fellowship.
She consistently uses her faith as inspiration to pursue a career of public
service. As an undergraduate studying Sociology and Pre-Law, as well as a
community servant and campus leader, Shana Lisa had developed her passion for
justice, specifically for women and youth, both domestically and
internationally. Last summer, she participated in an interdisciplinary study
abroad and cultural immersion program in Ghana, West Africa. Sister Shana Lisa plans to attend law school
after completing a two-year legal assistant fellowship at Sanford Wittels &
Heisler LLP in Washington, D.C. During her time at Sanford Wittels,
Shana Lisa looks forward to assisting attorneys and clients in class-action
lawsuits in practice areas of gender employment discrimination, public
interest, and prisoners’ rights. As a young person who herself has enjoyed
previous Youth Conferences, Sister Shana Lisa is excited to join and
contribute to the 62nd National Youth Conference Planning
Committee.
Brother Derrick Barnes
Representing The Philadelphia District
Darrick Barnes was born and raised in
Raleigh,
NC, and attended church in
Wilson, until the age of 12, when he and his family moved to Philadelphia, PA.
Darrick adjusted well with the move, he became a member of the Philadelphia orchestra where he played
saxophone. Darrick graduated from Mastbaum High School
in Philadelphia, PA,
in 2003 and graduated from Albright College in
Reading,
PA, in 2007 with a B.S. degree in
Finance. Darrick enjoys running, listening to music, playing team
sports, and having intellectual conversations with friends and family.
This is his first year serving on the Youth Conference Planning
Committee.
Brother Omega Shelton
Representing The Philadelphia District
Brother Omega Shelton born and raised in the
Philadelphia area, is a very active member of the Philadelphia Youth
department. He not only assists the youth department
but spends a lot of his time working with the musicians, choir, studio, men's
department, and in the kitchen. He tries to support as many auxiliaries as he
can. As a committee member of four years, he enjoys being a part of the
planning process. If we were to ask, Bro Omega what he liked most about being
apart of the planning committee, he would say, " He enjoys and appreciates the
opportunity to plan one of his favorite conferences."
Asked to give advice to incoming committee members he suggest that, "all
committee members need to be prepared to work as a group. It's not a one
person team, everyone gets to voice their opinion and execute an activity."
